Trees

What I see is they seem to be growing in their own directions. Yet, but as I look down the path I see a community of trees and have thoughts of how they weathered over the years. Some have healthy barks, some have aged and some may have disease. Soon they will be budding and growing leaves and displaying their individual strengths and spirits.

This window will has a lot of memories but Monday night another was added. I came home from work at the usual time and noticed turkey droppings in the driveway. I didn't think much of it because I know there are turkeys in the area. I went inside and turn up the heat. I heard a banging noise which I thought might be from pipes when I turned up the heat. So going into the basement to check I heard the noise again and looked up at the window and a large turkey (hen) was pecking at the window. I tapped at the window but it was fixated either on its reflection or something it saw throught the window.
I went outside to shoosh it away and it slowly went up the hill and stopped and seemed to look back at the window. The turkey was alone which I thought was a little unusual because I usually see more than one.
I have something of interest from a book on medicine cards about the turkey I wish to share.
The native americans thought of the turkey as the Give - Away Eagle and the philosophy of give-away was practiced by many tribes. Help and sustenance are given by turkey out of the realization that all life is sacred. Deb my wife feels the turkey's presence has meaning and that I should honor it.
When I was a kid I thought animals communicated to people in there own way. When I became an adult I thought less of this but that turkey seemed to want to stay and I felt something and I wanted to share that feeling.
In my next blog I want to share a story about a willow tree.

Roller Blading and walking a dog

Well doggie! The outside is where you wanna be. Dogs seem to be aware of so much that I think it tires them out. What would it be like to have the acute senses they do?

I've walked this trail Monday-Friday for three years. A runner my whole life, walking didn't seem to be that big a deal. Now my knees tell me you don't have a choice Joe you either walk or you slowly fade away.

Walking has been the best medicine that I prescribed to myself three years ago. The results have been a stronger body mind and spirit without a doubt.

Yesterday's post was about animal and human tracks. What do the depth of the tracks mean? What are the eating habits of the track maker? Most animals eat to survive. While humans also need to eat to survive most also eat for pleasure. Good eating habits can make us strong physically, emotionally and mentally. We are what we eat!

There is a quiz on the link below. How many tracks can you identify? Do animals notice human tracks more than humans notice animal tracks? Sometimes if we follow each others tracks long enough they might tell us a story about ourselves and the environment we live in.

I look forward to walking. Rain or shine it doesn't matter. On a golf course, along a river or up and down a mountain it doesn't matter walking is great for the spirit. I've started this little blog in hopes that people would share there thoughts and experiences while walking.

Please take a minute and fill out the survey and any comments you have. I'd love hearing some stories.

Thanks,
